Gui Mao (2023) Year, the 26th day of the Quanzhen sect Daoist precept transmission at Yuantian Jingle Palace on Wudang Mountain — Three Origins Noon Ceremony, Ancestral Worship, Seeking Precepts and Enlightenment

On November 14, 2023, in the lunar calendar, the second day of the tenth month (Bing Zi Day), in the Gui Mao year, the Daoists of the Quanzhen sect at Yuantian Jingle Palace on Wudang Mountain entered the 26th day of precept transmission. The activities for the day were as follows: in the morning, the Three Origins Noon Ceremony; in the afternoon, Ancestral Worship; and in the evening, Seeking Precepts and Enlightenment.

Three Origins Noon Ceremony
At 8:30 in the morning, the Gui Mao precept altar conducted the Three Origins Noon Ceremony. Master Zhang Zongjian, the guardian and chief priest, presided over the altar. The Three Origins Noon Ceremony is a Yin ritual that praises the “Three Origins Pardon Heavenly Lord” to save the souls of the deceased. The Three Officials are subordinated to the Jade Pure Realm, Upper Pure Realm, and Great Pure Realm, respectively. All beings, whether enlightened or not, rely on the Three Officials for recommendation to attain enlightenment. Men and women in the world who recite the Three Yuan´s name can receive blessings, pardons, and relief from calamities.

Ancestral Worship
At 2:30 in the afternoon, the Gui Mao precept altar conducted the Ancestral Worship. Abbot Li Zongdao, the head master and lawyer, led the precept masters and all disciples to the dining hall for offerings and then proceeded to the ancestral hall for the Ancestral Worship.

Seeking Precepts and Enlightenment
At 6:30 in the evening, the Gui Mao precept altar held the Seeking Precepts and Enlightenment. Abbot Li Zongdao, the head master and lawyer, and the precept masters joined all disciples in the Gui Mao precept altar’s roundtable discussion. According to the arrangement of the precept altar administrative team, representatives of disciples from different provinces took turns to speak about their experiences and insights in seeking precepts and enlightenment. The disciples expressed that the past month of precept transmission had deepened their understanding of the Quanzhen precepts and monastic regulations, providing clearer thoughts and awareness of how to uphold the precepts, propagate the Dao, and spread the teachings in the future.
