The 6th month of the lunar calendar is the so called Lei Zhai Yue, the thunder fasting month.
A good time to cultivate and practice as well as praying for relief of suffering and avoidance of calamities and desasters.
It begins on the 1st day and ends at the 24th day of the 6th lunar month, which is 10th of July to 2nd of August.
On the 25th day of the 6th lunar month is the birthday/honourday of the Thundergod, which end the fasting month.
During this month Daoists do fasting and eat vegetarian, recite the holy name of the Thunder God (10 characters) and the Yu Shu Scripture.
Also heart fasting is part of the practice during this month. Avoiding activities besides the cultivation. External doesn´t enter the body, internal doesn´t exit the body. Cutting of desires and cultivate stillness and clearity.
The holy name of the Thunder God:
九天应元雷声普化天尊
Jiǔ tiān yìng yuán léi shēng pǔ huà tiān zūn
We can recite it one time, five times, seven times or a thousand times.
We can also recite the holy proclamation of the Thunder God:
至心皈命礼
Zhì xīn guī mìng lǐ
九天应元府，无上玉清王，化形而满十方，
Jiǔ tiān yìng yuán fǔ, wú shàng yù qīng wáng, huà xíng ér mǎn shí fāng,
谈道而趺九凤。三十六天之上，
Tán dào ér fū jiǔ fèng. Sān shí liù tiān zhī shàng,

总司五雷，运心三界。
Zǒng sī wǔ léi, yùn xīn sān jiè.
群生父，万灵师。大圣大慈，至皇至道。
Qún shēng fù, wàn líng shī. Dà shèng dà cí, zhì huáng zhì dào.

Treasured proclamation of the Thunder Patriarch
With high piety turning over of life ceremony
The highest sovereign jade clarity lies in the ninth heaven in the original manor house. Its emanations penetrate the ten directions. He sits cross-legged on the beautiful-headed phoenix throne. At thirty-six heavens he searches through the precious chest of book and examines the jade script. Before the previous era of fifteen hundred years ago, it had already reached perfection and the great transformation had begun. In his hands he holds a Ru Yi scepter of golden light as he explains the meaning of the cherished writings of the Jade Pivot. He turns all obstacles into dust and gives the command like wind and fire. With a clear and calm heart he became a wise man, and with his wisdom he conquered all demons. He’s the general of the Five Thunders division. He moves the three realms. Father of the masses, master of a thousand souls. Great sagacious, great compassion. The towering emperor, the towering Dao.
