Three immeasurables of Daoism

Three immeasurables “三无量 San Wu Liang” are the “blessings” that the disciples of a Master or Dao sect greet with each other, rather than “immeasurable gods 无量天尊” and “blessings are immeasurable 福生无量”.

What do the three immeasurables represent?

The three immeasurables are separately called:

无量福 Immeasurable blessings

无量寿 Immeasurable life

无量光 (无量观) Immeasurable light/view

1. Pray that you can be guided by the Gods and receive immeasurable blessings

2. Pray that practicing Dao can get yin and yang conditioning, so that the five elements can be balanced / escaped (longevity)

3. Pray that when you enter the Dao, you can realize the truth of the Dao so that you can move on and return home (light/view)

Then again, every time one calls these three immeasurables, they remind themselfs (as a disciple of Daoism) that they should always cultivate a mind, mouth and body that is pure.

A pure heart seeks Dao , receive immeasurable blessings.

A pure mouth practices Dao, receive immeasurable life.

Purify the body and take refuge in Dao, receive the immeasurable light.
